Hotel website in drupal

Is there not a forum for these types of questions? I'm getting flooded since i signed up for the Jhb hook up.

I agree, this mailing list should be used for newsworthy stuff regarding the
South African Drupal community.

For technical questions you have a much better chance of getting the info
you need by signing up to the international Drupal Forum, since someone has
probably asked this question before. Even that is not the case, the
international, much larger Drupal community can benefit from you questions
and answers as well.

There is no point in competing with our mother ship by starting a local
separate forum :)

Re: Hotel website in drupal

Basically what I need it's a system where the user can book online, check the availability of certain room, and pay online. I will work on changing the module to fit my other specific needs .

Thanks

Hi,

There's still more you'd need to clarify but to get you started (since I haven't come across a hotel management module b4) - CCK module (http://drupal.org/project/cck) will assist with creating your own content types (e.g. rooms) you'll need Views modules (http://drupal.org/project/views) definitely so you can display "data" the way you want. You may need to use the workflow and/or rules (http://drupal.org/project/rules) modules depending again on the finer details. On second thought after someone books you want to alert someone, perhaps an email? rules is the thing for you and does much more.

Oh and the token module (http://drupal.org/project/token) is one not to do without! Actually there's a whole lot more to use for various requirements, functional, usability, SEO, marketing, etc...

As for handling payment, it also depends on which payment gateway you use.
If you are in Joburg do join us on Saturday and we can exploit more...

Later,
Noto
No drupal install should be without CCK and Views - EVER! :P

You'll need to be more specific about your requirements - people may not be familiar with what functionality a hotel management system requires. Who's going to be using the site, and what are the users going to be doing on the site - that kind of thing will help people to understand what you're trying to achieve.

You could try simplenews for newsletters, or mailchimp which does have a Drupal module for integration with drupal.

Charles.

I was about to ask the same question. Be more specific regarding the functionality of the site as there is alot of modules which can be used for specific tasks. :)
